Lahaul Spiti with Ladakh

14 NIGHTS / 15 DAYS

Day 01 :Bhubaneswar –Shimla

On arrival at Delhi shall drive toward Shimla. On arrival check in to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 :Shimla – Sarahan

On arrival at Kulu airport in the morning drive by road to Sarahan (2300 m), 185 kms from Shimla (8/9 Hrs drive) via Rampur. Visit Bhumkali temple (a rare combination of Buddhist and Hindu architecture, the main idol is about 200 years old.) and old palace en route to Sarahan. Sarahan is a beautiful township amid mountains with Shrikhand Mahadev peak (5155m) looming as a backdrop. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 03 :Sarahan – Kalpa

After breakfast we'll drive to Kalpa (3000 m), 150 kms (6/7 Hrs drive) via Rekong peo. Kalpa, the old headquarter of Kinnaur district and one–time favorite home of Lord Dalhousie. Overnight in tents.

Day 04: Kalpa – Tabo

Today we drive to Tabo (3200 m), 175 kms (6/7 hrs drive) via Ribba, Moron and Tila monastries. Tabo monastery is an ordinary mud structure but on the inside it has frescoes which earned Tabo the epithet of 'Ajanta of Himalayas'. Overnight in tents.

Day 05: Pin – Kaza

After breakfast we'll drive to Kaza (3450 m), 38 kms via Pin, Kungri and Dankar monastries. Overnight in tents.

Day 06:Kaza – Ki – Kibber – Kaza

After breakfast we drive to Ki monastery (4116 m), 11 kms. The monastery is the oldest and biggest in Spiti and houses rare paintings and scriptures. We further continue to Kibber(4140m), one of the highest villages in the world. Return to Kaza for dinner and overnight.

Day 07: Kaza – Chander Tal

After breakfast drive to Kunzum pass (4551 m) and Chandratal (4270 m). This blue water lake is situated about nine kms from Kunzum pass. The lake is placed between a low ridge and the main Kunzum range with an outlet into the Chandra River. The lake lies in a broad grassy plain, cranes and ducks abound in the lake. Overnight in tents.

Day 08: Chander Tal – Batal – Jispa

After breakfast we'll go for a trek to Batal (3960 m). After spending some time in Batal, we'll board our jeeps and drive to Keylong (3350 m), 95 kms. Keylong is like an 'oasis of greenfields' against a backdrop of brown hills and snow clad peaks. Overnight in tents.

Day 09:Jispa – Sarchu

After breakfast we check out and drive to Sarchu. Today we'll cross Baralacha Pass (4890 m), Bhartpur camp city and enter the Sarchu plane plateau (4253 m. Overnight at the camps over there.

Day 10:Sarchu – Leh

Post breakfast we'll head to Leh through Nakeela and Lachangla Pass (16,617 ft). Lunch will be at Pang and then we carry on with our drive to Leh passing through Skyangchu Thang (biggest and highest plateau on Earth on Stretch of 42 Kms), Tanglang La Pass (17,585 ft) and finnaly into Indus Valley. Overnight at Leh.

Day 11:Leh – Thiskey – Shey – Hemis – Leh

After breakfast we'll go for an excursion visiting the Indus Valley Monasteries. Our day's plan would include the famous Thiksey, Shey and Hemis monasteries. Packed lunch en–route. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 12:Leh – Khardungla Pass – Nubra Valley

50 kms on the road and 2,000 meters ascent to Khardung La pass, the highest motorable road in the world. After a brief stop in the thin mountain air for a photo, we'll descend quickly into the arid Nubra Valley, which until recently was a restricted military zone due to the nearby Pakistani and Chinese borders. It's now a new high point of our Ladakh tours, with breathtaking views, remote oasis villages and rugged river landscapes.

Day 13:Nubra Valley – Chilling

After visiting the Diskit monastery, we take the road to Chilling, once again crossing Khardung La. From Leh, we'll follow the Indus downstream to reach the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers. This is where the narrow road leading high up into the Zanskar Valley starts. It is a stretch of about 40 km which will take us to the village of Chilling and an unusually beautiful camp ground. Overnight at Chilling.

Day 14:Leh

Day at leisure in your hotel. Optional visit to the bazaar for shopping. In evening, attend local Ladakhi cultural show. Overnight in hotel.

Day 15:Leh – Delhi- Bhubaneswar

Morning after breakfast shall be transferred to the airport for a breathtaking flight over the mighty Himalayas to Delhi. On arrival board your connecting flight back home with sweet memories of holidays.
