Varna is the largest city and seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and the third largest city in Bulgaria. Upon check in you can have a local feel of the city of Varna as you visit the large and attractive green space overlooking the sea stretches for about 8km, and is said to be the largest of its kind in Europe called the Primorski Park. There are also several cafés near the entrance to the Aquarium and around the Summer Theatre. Steps from Primorski Park lead down to the city's long, sandy beach, which is hugely popular with local sunbathers, paddlers and beach-volleyball players. There are also a couple of tiny, outdoor, steaming mineral-water pools. City by the beach is what Varna is all about. Overnight in Varna

Day 05: Varna

Day is free at leisure. Indulge in some water sport activities or visit some main spots of Varna like the Varna's cathedral (1886) which is topped with golden onion domes. The murals (painted in 1950) and colourful stained-glass windows are truly wonderful. You can also visit the well-preserved ruins of Varna's 2nd-century-AD Roman Thermae which is the largest in Bulgaria, although only a small part of the original complex still stands. The National Naval Museum hosts several galleries of model ships and uniforms. Anchors, artillery and helicopters can be seen rusting quietly in the grounds at the back, while the revered warship Druzki, which torpedoed a Turkish cruiser during the First Balkan War in 1912, is embedded in concrete outside. Evening we recommend you to visit Di Wine - formal but friendly restaurant is Varna's best fine-dining spot, with a big menu of tempting dishes including rack of lamb, T-bone steaks, guinea fowl, salmon and trout as well as cheaper barbecue dishes.
